This classic tomato pizza sauce is easy to make, rich in flavor, and full of fragrant herbsperfect for any style of pizza.
How to Make Classic Pizza Sauce
Ingredients:
- 30 ml (2 tbsp) olive oil
- 1 small brown onion, finely diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 cans chopped tomatoes (400g each)
- 50g tomato paste
- 1 dried bay leaf
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and cook slowly until softened but not browned.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, bay leaf, oregano, and brown sugar.
- Simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt, then turn off the heat.
- Use a stick blender to blend the sauce until smooth and glossyits ready to use!
Tips:
- For a fresher tang, add a small amount of diced fresh tomatoes.
- It's best to prepare the sauce a day in advance to enhance the flavor.
- Leftover sauce can be stored in the fridge for 35 days or frozen for longer storage.
